i finally downloaded these pictures of may and i selling at the nyack street fair earlier this month.... our stuff looks even better together than i remembered!

our "handmade in brooklyn"sign (slightly visible in the third photo)
got a lot of comments. my favorite was the old man who said
"tea towels? we don' drink tea in brooklyn! we drink coffee. and beer." heh.

i just got screens burned with larger versions of my designs, so the fox placemats are in production...

i made this pretty bath mat out of stephen's old towel and part of an old bedspread, and posted about the process on the newnew's blog.

a few days later, it was picked up by whip up and craftzine!

so something good finally came out of that ratty old towel....

perhaps you've noticed that lovely banner up at the top of my blog lately, but haven't had a minute to click on it and see what it's all about? well, i'll make it easy for you:

this saturday, september 13th, i'm going up to beacon, ny, to throw a one-day craft fair with a bunch of other crafty ladies from my etsy team, the {newnew}. it's called the handmade cavalcade, and it will be a great collection hip handmade goodies, from jewlery to journals, from soap to ceramics, from knitting to napkins.

we will set up shop at the corner of main street and north cedar, just a short walk up from beacon's metro-north station.

if you're in the city, beacon is a great town for a day trip—not only is it in the beautiful hudson valley, but it's got a ton of galleries and cute shops, and is home to the very impressive dia:beacon museum.

hope to see you there...

*p.s. marichelle just gave us a shout-out on her weekly bulletin board over at her lovely site, heart handmade.

cary of little love blue was sweet enough to include tina in her weekly "saturday shopping list", along with a bunch of other pretty things from members of the {newnew}.

cary makes wonderful felt art, like this absurdly adorable mushroom

and this black kitty, who i have coveted for quite some time now....

though i love my old iron, which has been with me for almost two decades, i have been searching for a non-steam iron, which was proving really hard to find. apparently it's all about steam these days. but not back when this beauty was made:

i found it at the salvation army when i was doing a supply run the other day, and i am smitten.

look at that skirt. you want that skirt. i want that skirt. kayte terry shows us all how to make that skirt in her fabulous new book, complete embellishing. and you can enter to win a copy over at the {newnew}'s blog. (you may have to scroll down if it's not the top post anymore.)

don't wear skirts? okay, how about a lamp?

we're back from our yearly pilgrimage to the maine summer...

and now it's back to work.

Tuesday, August 19, 2008

i bought this black tea soap from kopah at the brooklyn flea back in june.

isn't it pretty? it also smells like heaven—spicy and warm, just like good black tea—and doesn't make my skin dry. and it's made with all natural ingredients, nothing scary. so of course, i had to stock up.

i love the recycled-magazine packaging, too. thank you, candice!

my stomach is all cramped up, i can barely see through the tears in my eyes, and i drooled a little on my keyboard.

and it's all the fault of cakewrecks.

here's a little sneak peek:

make sure you have a little time to kill before you click...
